Good Friday: The Wedding Day

Holy Week begins, drawing us gently toward Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday—a moment that changed all of history and still reaches us now. As we reflect on what He has done for us, I pray we remember our wedding day, sealed more than two thousand years ago. This week, let us linger in the memory of walking down the aisle with Him, marked by love and suffering… the Via Dolorosa. We were not given away on that day; we were brought home, returned to the Father.

Good Friday: The Wedding Day

What a significant moment in all of history

Carrying the cross down via dolorosa is You getting on Your knees

Dying on the cross is Your marriage proposal to me

You left Your kingdom to pursue me here

Your death keeps me eternally near

When I think of this day, I hear You say

Will you marry me?

Yes, I do! I do!

Now we’re one and no longer two!

Over 2000 years ago, I was betrothed to the King

Your crown of thorns transformed into my wedding ring

Your scarlet robe transformed into my wedding gown

To sin and death, I’m no longer bound

Your blood is my certificate of marriage

Your blood is proof of our covenant

My name is now written in the Book of Life

Thank You, my Lord, for making me Your bride.
